St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of Moscow will offer two opportunities for study, contemplation and reflection during the season of Lent.

The first series will be offered on five consecutive Wednesdays beginning March 16. It will begin with a soup supper at 5:30 p.m. in the parish hall, followed by a DVD-based class featuring theologian Marcus Borg.

The video sessions cover five elements essential to understanding and practicing Christianity:, such as “Who was Jesus?” and “How do we live in community?” Borg, a professor of religion and culture at Oregon State University, is the author of “Reading the Bible Again for the First Time” and other books.
The Rev. Susan Cleveley, assisting priest at St. Mark’s, will lead a five-week series titled “Song of Creation,” from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturdays beginning March 19. Each week, a different retreat team will facilitate prayer, creative activities and reflective exploration on themes of water, earth, air and fire.
Both series are free and open to the public. For more information, call the church office at 882-2022.
